HUR HITTAR JAG HEM?
HOW DO I FIND MY HOME?

ART INSIDE OUT RESIDENCY
HALMSTAD 2018

Through the Art Inside Out residency "Artistic work in progress" in Halmstad during May and June 2018 Saadia Hussain aimed to search and understand the notion and feelings connected to home and homeland. What makes us feel at home and how can we share our home and homeland?

The caravan was transformed by Saadia both as a surface and as a symbol of home. A mobile room for conversation with people. At different places people where reached out to and invited in to discuss, understand and exchange their thoughts, fears and understanding on what home meant for them.

The voices for the sound Art ”88 Voices” were recorded during Saadia Hussain's time as one of the resident artists in the Art Inside Out residence "Artistic work in progress", in Halmstad in the spring of 2018.

Home is a subject that we all have an experience of, it both unites us and divides us, something you find, lose or constantly seek. Home is a physically, philosophically and politically charged subject that affects us both locally and globally. About how we find homes and how we share homes with others. Saadia Hussain started from a question during the Art Inside Out residence in Halmstad. Through her colors and shapes, she transformed a caravan and created a mobile room where she felt at home; where the people of Halmstad were invited for conversations about what home means to them. Here we hear 88 voices belonging to children, young people and adults and their stories and relationship to home.

The sound art project is a collaboration with the sound artist Helena Persson who took on the recorded interviews and gradually formed a rhythm, a flow and a form for it. Which expressed both the common and the unique in the 88 voices/people/stories.
