Re-creating and re-arranging patterns is central in my work. I have always been surrounded by patterns in my personal environment and have always been drawn towards this specific aesthetics. An aesthetic and an art form which is part of our everyday lives. Our lives are shaped by patterns and repetitions. Patterns can be both visible and invisible. Patterns allows me to critically reflect on habits, cultures, traditions and systems. “MAKING AND BREAKING PATTERNS” consists of work in which I construct, combine and compress my complex identities, to make stories of power and resistance within me visible. For me making and breaking patterns is an active ongoing part of my work and my life.
