MASAHTI / MY SPACE

October – November 2016
Shatila Refugee Camp, Beirut

MASAHTI/ MY SPACE is a collaboration and a co-creation project which focused on ideas of identity, home and belonging which took place in Shatila refugee camp. A camp where forth generation of Palestinians are still refugees and live in a temporary state of mind. We worked with the youth and together we co-created a mural painting in one of the narrow and busy streets of Shatila. A passage we translated and transformed with thoughts and ideas emerged from the young participants into colors and patterns.

The project was funded by Creative Force – Swedish Institute in collaboration with the local partner in Shatila: The National Institution of Social Care and Vocational Training (NISCVT)/ Beit Atfal Assumoud.
